NAGICO STARTS IT'S OWN A-TEAM

Philipsburg, St. Maarten: NAGICO Insurances has once again made several strides in increasing efficiency and teamwork with the official launch of the internal team building program, The A-team. The launch was held on Friday 13th February 2008 in the accounts department at the NAGICO head office. The A-team was the brainchild of Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Glenville Blake. He said “The purpose of the A-team is to strive to achieve excellence in performance while being fulfilled at the job.” Mrs. Rhoda Arrindell was the guest speaker for the launch. She spoke on the topic of “Educating Yourself”, and touched on several core aspects of what makes an A-team, such as Advancement of Personal Development and the Achievement of Goals.”
NAGICO CEO, Mr. McSood Amjad also spoke briefly, he congratulated the department on showing the initiative to start the A-team and provided encouragement for the team as they embarked on their goal setting journey.
Mr. Blake, who has the designation of team president explained the A-team is based on a sporting model. A-team members consist of team captains, coaches, technical support veteran players and rookies all of whom have specific tasks geared towards “scoring as much goals” as possible within a specific period. He continued by saying, “The accounting team is an integral part in any company as it provides information that is used by management in its decision making processes.
It is important that everyone in the accounts department realizes the importance of the tasks which they are given, and try to fulfill these tasks accurately. For this purpose the A-team model focuses on coaches and the team captain ensuring team players reach the goals set to them in a timely manner.”
The A-team also presented its first team captain, Francisca Pers, during its launch. Mrs. Pers who will hold the post for a 3 month period stated “I am pleased with the position and the responsibility that I have been given. During my term I would like to motivate persons in be more goal oriented.”
Mrs. Pers continued in saying “The A-team is a great benefit to NAGICO because it can help bring unity to the accounts department, which is very critical to any company.” Mrs. Pers has several tasks as team captain including, supporting the team mates, acting as the team spokesperson, and organizing events to name a few.
