NAGICO SPONSORS YOUTH FUTSAL COMPETITION

Philipsburg, St. Maarten – NAGICO Insurances has shown its continued commitment to the development of the youth on the island by sponsoring St. Maarten’s 1st Youth Futsal Competition. NAGICO which also sponsors the regular Futsal Competition donated $ 1000 to the St. Maarten Futsal Association so that the youth tournament could be organized. The event which officially started on Sunday October 12th is scheduled to span a course of 3 (three) weeks. The 4 (four) participating teams consist of players of the age of 16 and under. It is these youngsters who will be vying for the right to be crowned the competitions first champion.
At the check presentation the Vice President of the Futsal Association, Steven Tjinaton said “The board of the St. Maarten Futsal Association understands that if futsal is to develop then we need to include the youths’ participation in the sport. NAGICO has been extremely supportive of the sport of Futsal on the island and with this current donation the kids will be given a chance to participate.”
Mr. Tjinaton continued by saying “NAGICO has also been very keen to invest in, and to promote sports on St. Maarten, especially when kids are involved. NAGICO’s management understands that these young athletes can be nurtured into the athletes who would be able to participate on the world stage thanks to donations that are made.
