Philipsburg, St. Maarten: NAGICO Insurances is a major sponsor of the From Us To You III: King of Kings local show. Organized by the Sky is the Limit Foundation, the show takes place on Friday April 18th at the St Maarten Festival Village and will feature ten of St Maarten Calypso Kings.
In its ongoing support of the local community, NAGICO has thrown its weight behind the event as a major sponsor as they made a substantial contribution to the show on Monday. NAGICO will be primarily sponsoring the cash prizes for the winner and runner ups in the show. In accepting the substantial sponsorship contribution, Toontje Buncamper of Sky is the Limit Foundation expressed appreciation to NAGICO for truly supporting the local calypsonians in their endeavor to elevate the artform on St Maarten.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Marketing Manager, Jasmine Payne said, "This is NAGICO's way of supporting a portion of the local artistic community while at the same time helping to provide the St. Maarten calypso fans with a high quality showcase of the talent they love and have supported through the years. We think that the social commentary and fun lyrics found in the calypso art-form are healthy and make a valuable contribution to the culture of the island. NAGICO welcomes this opportunity to sponsor the King of Kings show; it's also from NAGICO to you!"
The local King of Kings show is the first of its kind on St Maarten and the organizers are pleased that all ten former and present Calypso Kings are on board for the show. There will be two rounds; the first in which the calypsonians will treat the crowd to a favorite classic local song during which the crowd will be able to judge their favorite performance. In the second round new songs will be delivered and a panel of judges will decide on St Maarten's first King of Kings winner.
