St Kitts Beats St Maarten Despite Rain Interrupted Game.

Despite only receiving one point defending champion St Kitts ended their last round match against St Maarten on a winning note. The match which was played at Conaree Cricket Ground. The toss was won by St Kitts who batted first and posted a challenging total of 303 all out in 48.3 overs.
Leading the assault was captain Shane Jeffers who stroked a well played 101 from 106 deliveries consisting of 14 fours and one six. Juni Mithum 57 runs from just 39 deliveries which consisted of five fours and three sixes while Greg Stanley made 46 from the 60 deliveries he faced consisting of seven fours.
Spearheading the St Maarten bowling was former Montserrat player Colin Hammer who grabbed five wickets for 53 runs from the ten overs that he sent down which included one maiden.
Sherwin Peters had three for 60 from the nine rovers that he sent down while Damion Williams for his 45 had two wickets from the 5.4 overs that he bowled.
Needing to make 304 to win their third match of the tournament, St Maarten quickly lost wickets and a captain's innings that was being played by John Eugene was interrupted due to heavy rain.
When the umpires stopped the game St Maarten was at 102 for the loss of four wickets with captain John Eugene was 39 not out from the 35 deliveries that he faced with three fours and three sixes. The other not out batsman was Marlon Le Blanc with 21 runs including two fours.
After a final inspection at 3.47 pm the umpires concluded that the match will have to be abandoned due to continuous heavy rain and unplayable conditions. St Kitts and St Marten both received a point for the n with St Kitts ending on twelve points while St Maarten ended their disappointing campaign with five points from two wins, four looses and one no result. St Kitts finished second to Antigua while St Maarten finished sixth in the eight team competition.
