BVI was once again soundly beaten when they faced defending champions St Kitts in the 2008 Leeward Islands NAGICO Sponsored One Day competition. The fourth round match which was played at the Conaree ground saw BVI being rooted out for 124 all out in 37.5 overs.

BVI was humiliated by the St Kitts team as their batsmen were certainly no match for the local lads who seemed as if they were on a revenge campaign. Leading the assault on BVI was Kevin Hanley who bowled ten overs which included three maidens returning with four wickets for seventeen runs.

Supporting him well Calvin Williams with figures of ten overs, no maidens two for 37, Steve Liburd 5.5 overs, one maiden with two for fifteen and Jason Saddler eight overs, no maiden, two for 36.

Giving some resistance was Keiland Robin whose contribution to his team's total was thirty two runs two fours and one six from the 61 deliveries that he faced.

St Kitts was given a revised a target because of heavy rainfall. This meant that they were required to make a total of 117 from 44 overs. However, they hit off this small target scoring 119 for the loss of two wickets thus winning by eight wickets.

The home team raced to the required target in 24.2 overs. Shane Jeffers led the way for St Kitts team with 40 not out which included seven fours from the sixty six deliveries that he had faced. Steve Liburd chipped in with 28 not out which consisted of five fours from thirty six deliveries faced and Greg Stanley contributed 21 which included two fours from 34 deliveries.

Attempting to put brakes on the St Kitts runs chase was Sheldon John who bowled four overs with no maiden and picked up two for 23.

BVI has lost all four of its matches thus far in this year's competition and while they should be credited for giving very spirits fights in their attempts to win their matches they have not succeeded.

BVI's next match is against the USVI on Saturday at the Molyneaux ground and they will certainly be going out to make amends for their failure thus far in the competition. The final two rounds are slated for August 31st and September 2nd. Both teams are winless so far in the competition.

The semifinals and finals of the competition will be contested in St Maarten.
